Speaking during the Jukwaa la Usalama event on Thursday, July 30, in Laikipia county, Murkomen stated that he noticed that most of the police stations date back to the colonial era.

"I don't know what percentage, but I know more than 60% of the police stations are colonial. Si nyinyi mmefanya kazi kila mahali, you're police officers. You've noticed that all police stations look alike, except the few that have been constructed by the CDF," Murkomen said.

Did Murkomen ask OCSs to send photos of police stations?

In a bid to have all the police stations improved, Murkomen stated that he had an agreement with the Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, that all OCSs should take pictures of the stations they work in.

The pictures are meant to create a presentation that will be shown to concerned people who will help revamp the stations, according to Murkomen.

"I want to ask them if we are finding it difficult to build 1200 police stations, which is less than KSh 2 billion in this entire period," he said.

Murkomen stated that he is not trying to blame anybody, asserting that he also never paid attention to the state of stations until he became the Interior CS.

"I am guilty, I don't want to look like I am a clean man. I was minister for two years before I became the minister for Interior. Before that I could not even see a police station. So the other day, I went to two wards where I found pathetic police stations," he added.
