“We must vote for Ruto. When 2027 comes, I will tell God, ‘This man, Ruto, loved us. He walked with us and gave us positions in government we hadn’t seen in over 63 years. He even gave us security. Please give him five more years,’” Mbadi told the congregation.

A former long-serving ODM national chairman, Mbadi, stressed the importance of bipartisan cooperation, saying political dynamics leave ODM and UDA with no choice but to work together for the sake of Kenya’s unity.

“Looking at the dynamics of politics of this country, we don’t have a choice, the two parties must collaborate, if not for anything else, just to lead the unity of Kenya. We do not want people who think they are more Kenyan than others. We all have equal rights,” he added.

What did Mbadi tell Ruto's critics?

The politician, a beneficiary of the broad-based government, also dismissed critics who argue that the current administration should be removed from office, saying such calls are often baseless.

He pointed to historical challenges in the agricultural sector, including issues with tea, coffee, sugar, and dairy, and credited the Ruto administration with initiating meaningful reforms.

“Even during retired president Uhuru Kenyatta’s time, there were widespread complaints in agriculture. Today, those issues are no longer dominating public discourse because this administration is addressing them. Some critics have now turned into human rights activists overnight, not because things are worse, but because his name sounds strange,” he said.

In addition, Mbadi pledged to address infrastructure challenges across the country.

He committed to completing stalled road projects, including one in his constituency that has remained unfinished since 2016.
