Why Samwel Masaki launched a soccer tournament

The youthful leader said the tournament was a product of months of listening, planning, and working closely with our vibrant youth, local leaders, and stakeholders.

According to Masaki, every corner of Embakasi South has untapped talent, and his tournament will provide a platform for the youths to showcase their talents.

"It was born from a vision shared during our Masaki Foundation’s forums since last year. A vision that uses sports as a bridge between opportunity and potential. We’re not just kicking off matches. We are building futures. This tournament gives you visibility, opportunity, and a fair playing field. We’ve committed over 1.9 million shillings in awards—not to show off—but to show that our youth are worth investing in," he stated.

What is the grand prize of the Masaki tournament?

The tournament, which brings together 46 teams, will see the winner walk away with KSh 1 million in the grand prize.

In his speech, he lauded the Breesl Ambulance, which is the medical partner for the tournament, which he said shows his commitment to player safety and well-being.

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Masaki disclosed that special programs will be rolled out to address areas such as mental health, gender balance and personal dignity.

"Inclusion: Mental health, gender balance, and personal dignity are part of this league’s DNA. A special program will roll out during the tournament to address these critical areas," the youthful politician said.

He further stated that student players taking part in the tournament will be awarded bursaries to support their education.

"Education and Empowerment: Bursaries will be awarded to student players. Because the pitch and the classroom must walk hand in hand," he said.
