"I feel bad when you people start saying that parliament has no people who think, that parliament has no people who have principles. Some of us have gone through thick and thin," she said, visibly agitated.

The lawmaker suggested that the generalisation and negative narrative have had a personal cost.

"You can't lump us up in one lump. Surely it's not fair. It is not fair. In fact, that demotivates some of us. Sometimes you wonder, 'I lose so much, yet these people on social media are bashing me," she added

Wamuchomba went on to describe the emotional toll of the online abuse she receives, citing insults such as being called an "MP-ig" as deeply hurtful.

"Oh, this MP is just like another MP." When you call me an 'MP-ig', for heaven's sake, I have lost so many personal things and gains because of my stand. Sometimes it makes me feel a little bit demotivated," the MP added.

Are Kenyans at fault for poor leadership?

Her comments come at a time when public confidence in parliament has been dwindling, with widespread criticism over its perceived inability to check the Executive.

Many Kenyans have accused MPs of being more loyal to the presidency than to their constituents.

The MP said even if a section of Kenyans dismisses her perspective, the signs of Executive dominance are visible to anyone watching.

"I think all this mess we have, all this mess we have, a parliament that has no voice, a parliament that is captured by the executive and the presidency, and that I have no apologies to say, because it is true. Even if it is not true coming from me, from you viewers, I'm sure you see what happens. All this mess we have, I always say, the problem is the voter,," Wamuchomba opined.

However, Wamuchomba pushed back against this narrative, insisting that the electorate must also take responsibility for the leadership they choose.

"I think it's up to even voters to also decide on what kind of quality of leaders they are going to vote," she stated.

Is Wamuchomba on the brink of losing her seat?

In a separate report, Suna East MP Junet Mohamed stirred controversy in parliament by predicting that Wamuchomba may lose her seat in the 2027 elections, citing her confrontational stance toward the government.

He suggested that a diplomatic appointment could be a dignified fallback if she indeed faces defeat.

Wamuchomba strongly rejected the claims, questioning Junet’s alleged foresight and reaffirming she has no immediate political intentions for her Githunguri seat.
