He further claimed that he and his colleagues from the opposition had earlier urged the head of state to listen to Kenyans.
"Mr. Ruto, Kenyans asked you to stop extrajudicial killings, unnecessary force and violence against civilians using state-sponsored militia, police brutality, forced abductions and disappearances, illegal detentions, and blatant abuse of human rights," Gachagua's statement read in part.

Why is William Ruto under probe?
Gachagua's reactions come after the Idaho senator and the Chair of Foreign Relations, James Risch, asked the US Senate to review Kenya's non-NATO ally status.
The status was conferred on July last year following President William Ruto's State Visit to the United States during Joe Biden's regime.
The request for the review was, however, as a result of the alleged relationship between the government of Kenya, key officials and non-state armed groups in including Sudan's Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
This came months after Sudan called out Ruto for hosting the dreaded RSF group. The move angered the Sudan, which accused Ruto of breaching international principles.
The US Senate is also carrying out a probe into the head of state following his alleged involvement in the Gen Z killings during the Saba Saba and Gen Z anniversary demonstrations.
What was Gachagua's appeal to Kenyans?
Following the latest developments, Gachagua called on Kenyans to increase their advocacy to the International Community on the vices that are currently affecting the country.
"I urge Kenyans living and working in the USA to reach out to their Senators with information and facts on what is happening to our beloved nation, Kenya. We will not sit pretty and watch our country slip into anarchy, cynicism, and dictatorship," Gachagua said.
Gachagua argued that Kenya may lose a defence and security strategic partnership in research, security, training, defence, and military support, and regional security roles with the USA.
"Mr. William Ruto must answer to the people of Kenya and take full responsibility for shaming our beloved Country, Kenya," Gachagua added.
He further argues that the opposition had issued a warning to Ruto and asked him to bar foreign terrorist organisations from Kenya.
"Under Mr. William Ruto, Kenya has become a financial haven for individuals and entities on the Office of Foreign Assets Control Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons list and foreign terrorist organisations, including individuals and entities based in some neighbouring countries," he added.
