Murkomen told Gachagua to back his recent claims about the government dealings with armed militia, providing evidence or face questions about his mental state.
Speaking at a press briefing, the CS said that if Gachagua had information of interest to local or international authorities, he should record a formal statement with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) immediately upon his return from the United States.

“He must record such information with the DCI as soon as he arrives in the country so that we can take him seriously,” Murkomen stated. “Until then, we will just consider it as part of his comedy and caricature that he has become in everything he says out there.”
Is Gachagua suffering from ill-mental health?
The CS did not mince words when questioning Gachagua’s mental well-being, suggesting the former deputy president’s alleged contradictions could be a sign of stress following his impeachment from high office.
“If he is not going to record a statement about what he said on al-Shabaab and the country, then the right thing is we check him into a mental health institution for an assessment,” Murkomen added. “Because his level of contradiction can only mean he is either a pathological liar or a mental case that requires urgent treatment.”
Murkomen warned that Gachagua’s remarks were no longer a laughing matter, cautioning Kenyans against amplifying his US tour speeches on platforms such as TikTok.

“It is no longer a joke. Most of you share his videos and messages, encouraging someone who is unwell to say more things that could harm our country. Those around him should help him get medical treatment. Somebody out there may think he is a serious person, when he is not,” the CS said.
Murkomen criticises Gachagua for writing 'wantam'
Turning his attention to the former deputy president’s US itinerary, Murkomen accused Gachagua of chasing publicity rather than substance.
He mocked his habit of taking photos with American law enforcement officers at airports and questioned the seriousness of his engagements.
“Wherever he passes, even in airports, he is looking for airport police to pose with. That is a big joke, a total joke,” Murkomen said.
“Or when he goes to an amusement park as a tourist and claims it was an engagement. Many of us have visited such parks when travelling. The only thing he could write when visiting Facebook as a tourist was a political slogan,” he added.

Gachagua, during his visit to Facebook headquarters in Silicon Valley, scribbled “Wantam” on the visitor wall — shorthand for “one term” in reference to President William Ruto’s tenure.
Murkomen's remarks come just days after a Ruto ally urged DCI to arrest Gachagua upon his arrival from the US.

Will Gachagua be arrested upon return to Kenya?
Mandera senator Ali Roba demanded the arrest of Gachagua over allegations linking Ruto to the al-Shabaab terror group. He said the claims were false and harmful to national security.
Roba accused Gachagua of fabricating stories to cause fear and division. He maintained that the president’s visit to Mandera was open and transparent, with no secret meetings.
The senator urged the DCI to question Gachagua immediately upon his return and require him to provide evidence or face legal action.
