A poster had been doing rounds on social media claiming that Maraga condemned Gachagua's remarks about the Kenya Kwanza government during his tour in the United States.

Gachagua had accused the Kenya Kwanza government of having links with terrorists like the Sudan's paramilitary group, Rapid Support Forces and the Al Shabaab.

His remarks came after the Senators of the United States began investigating the head of state over police brutality and links to terrorist groups.

How did Maraga respond to poster?

The poster stated that Maraga slammed Gachagua, asking him not to play with the country's reputation abroad.

"Kenya's reputation abroad is not a plaything for politicians. When you travel overseas and try to undermine your own country in foreign forums, you do harm that lasts long after you've left the podium. Rigathi is being reckless at the country's expense," the statement read in part.

However, Maraga has come forward to dismiss the remarks, terming them as false. He asserted that everything he says can be found on his presidential website.

He called on Kenyans to disregard any statements that cannot be found on that particular website.

"Let’s fight misinformation. If it is not on the website, then it has not been said," Maraga said on his X account on Wednesday, August 13.
