Not only has Onyango adopted the name 'Wajackoyah,' but he also emulates the politician’s signature dressing style—a trend he began back in July 2022.
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke from the Coast, Wajackoyah said he recently learnt of Onyango’s admiration for him from the ODM party members.
“Baba's supporters, leave my bhang alone,” Wajackoyah remarked light-heartedly before noting that Onyango, despite being an ODM member, had shown deep personal loyalty to him.
According to Wajackoyah, the aspirant’s popularity in ODM circles demonstrates the broad appeal of his brand beyond party lines.
“In his heart, he is in the Roots Party even while vying for MCA in West Gem under ODM. He has even adopted my name—Wajackoyah,” he said.

Will Wajackoyah support Siaya MCA aspirant?
The politician added that he viewed Onyango’s use of his name as a show of respect and would gladly support him regardless of his political affiliation.
He went further to say he would 'adopt' Onyango as his political son, offering financial and moral support whether the aspirant maintained his ODM candidacy or switched to the Roots Party.
“If I get his contact, I will give him a direct call. In fact, I may even visit him on my way to Western. He should have his own freedom. I will support him whether he is in ODM or Roots Party. The fact that he has expressed his feelings and adopted my name, I will adopt him as my son.” Wajackoyah stated.
Will Wajackoyah run for presidency in 2027?
The Roots Party leader began his political tour of the Coast region as part of his 2027 presidential campaign activities.
His tour began on Tuesday, August 12, when he landed in Kilifi county to a warm reception from supporters.
Upon arrival at Malindi International Airport, Wajackoyah was welcomed by Roots Party officials and entertained by acrobatic performers.
He then proceeded to tour the Deep South area, where he visited Rasta temples and met groups of Gen Z supporters who sang Bob Marley’s 'One Love' in his honour.
“I am grateful for you people. I will be vying for the presidency and will not align myself with any coalition. Many leaders will come after me, and when they do, let them bring the bundles they have stolen from the public,” he said, pledging to take a strong stance against corruption.
While on the Coast, Wajackoyah also attended the Law Society of Kenya’s Annual Conference in Diani, Kwale county.
He described the event as an opportunity to share ideas with legal professionals on governance, constitutionalism, and justice reform.

What will Wajackoyah do after winning presidency?
Meanwhile, Wajackoyah had proposed demolishing the State House church that President William Ruto will be building if elected and repurposing the site for public use, such as a prison or recreation centre.
Wajackoyah criticised the project, terming it a violation of constitutional provisions.
He argued that the state house, as a gazetted national monument, should not host new structures without public consent.
He also suggested relocating the presidential residence to Nakuru to decentralise power and promote equitable development.
