Political parties have until October 2 to submit the names of their nominated candidates, following either party primaries or internal selection procedures.
Meanwhile, independent candidates must present their applications by September 17, and must not have been affiliated with any political party within the three months leading up to November 27, the scheduled date for the by-elections.
How long will by-election campaigns take?
All parties and candidates are required to submit the names of their election agents no later than November 11.
Campaigning will be permitted for a six-week period, running from October 8 to November 24, and must take place between 7 am and 6 pm daily.
The IEBC confirmed that the voter register used during the 2022 general elections will be applied in the by-elections.
Candidates who breach the electoral code of conduct or violate the established rules risk disqualification and may face penalties under the Election Offences Act of 2026, as cautioned by the commission.
