Mudavadi's announcement caused the entire crowd to respond in shock as Andanje was expected to address the crowd.

The political aspirant reportedly developed weakness in his feet and thus could not leave his vehicle.

Andanje, who was the former principal of Bungoma High School, was reportedly rushed to the hospital, where efforts to resuscitate him were done to no avail.

The cause of Andanje's death has yet to be revealed, but local authorities state that a post-mortem will be conducted to establish the cause of his death.

The deceased had taken an early retirement from his teaching profession so he could contest the Malava by-elections.

The constituency's by-election was organised to fill the vacant seat of the late office holder, Malulu Injendi.

The deceased was among those politicians who were seeking to occupy the seat under the UDA party ticket.
