On Tuesday, August 19, the president established a powerful Multi-Agency Team (MAT) on the war against corruption.
Which anti-corruption task force did Ruto form?
According to the head of state, the new team will spearhead the country’s anti-graft campaign, reinforcing his administration’s “whole-of-government” approach to ending economic crimes.

Ruto's decision came a day after he accused members of parliament and senators of receiving millions in kickbacks.
“The MAT is mandated to create synergy and inter-agency cooperation in the fight against corruption, economic crimes, and related offenses,” Ruto said.
In the communication, Ruto said the task force will be chaired by a person from the Office of the President.
What Caleb Amisi said about Ruto's decision
However, Amisi dismissed the decision by the Kenya Kwanza Alliance leader, terming it inconsequential.
The ODM lawmaker wondered how the Office of the President can be trusted to lead the anti-graft team.
"To the president, you can not be the judge in a case where you are jointly charged together with others, not before the court today. Creating an anti-graft agency and chairing it yourself is the most obnoxious lie you can serve Kenyans," Amisi said.
The Saboti lawmaker said he sympathises with Kenyans who feel hopeless and directionless under Ruto's administration.
"I feel for citizens of this great nation, who are constantly rolling on a roller coaster with no clear destination. Kenya needs a renaissance," he added.
The vocal MP termed Ruto's stand on corruption as a political chessboard meant to divert the attention of Kenyans from the main issues affecting the country.

"The fight against corruption in this country is only but just a political chess board, a gimmick and a charade. Don't divert the attention of #Wantam melody, the current administration lacks moral authority to lecture on corruption, when it is cooked, conceived and packaged in their bedroom," the ODM MP said.
Did William Ruto accuse MPs of corruption?
The move to constitute the anti-graft task force came a day after the president accused lawmakers of engaging in corruption.
During a joint ODM-Kenya Kwanza Alliance Parliamentary Group meeting, Ruto disclosed that he received intelligence reports which suggested some MPs and senators received bribes worth millions of shillings to influence legislative processes.
Ruto singled out the Anti-Money Laundering Bill, claiming some legislators pocketed up to KSh 10 million each, while one senator allegedly took KSh 150 million.
He pledged that both the givers and receivers of such bribes will be arrested and prosecuted.
