"Reports indicate that the government is harbouring malicious plans to divert his flight to Kisumu International Airport. In anticipation of this malicious development, the DCP Kisumu County fraternity and all its members are mobilising their numbers in thousands and hundreds to welcome their leader," local officials said.
The officials added that they expect hundreds of thousands of supporters to flood Kisumu International Airport if the diversion happens.
According to the officials, this would serve to show the new party’s strong presence in Luo Nyanza.
"This will showcase the party's strong presence in the region. The reception will demonstrate the party's unity and enthusiasm for the leader's arrival. We are confident that if by chance the plane is diverted to Kisumu, the reception will be a testament to the strong support for the DCP Party in Luo Nyanza counties and the immense love the Luo community have for Uncle Riggy G," they added.
Will Gachagua's Nairobi welcome affect Kisumu plans?
The officials stressed that they were well-prepared and would not be caught off guard by any diversion.
"We are well ready to receive our deputy president and the People's Deputy President. We all know that we the people of Kisumu, we are ready to receive him," they said.

The local branch also issued a call to members to remain alert, saying preparations in Nairobi would not stop Kisumu from mobilising.
"We are ready for anything which happens tomorrow. Tomorrow is 21st. From today we will be adding to the JKIA Nairobi to receive him," one official stated.
Gachagua is expected back in the country today, Thursday, August 21, after an eight-week tour of the US, where he met Kenyans across several states.
How will Gachagua be welcomed from US?
According to DCP deputy leader Cleophas Malala, Gachagua’s plane is scheduled to land at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) at noon.
From there, he will be received by supporters before leading a procession to the Kamukunji grounds for a public address.
The party’s Nairobi programme includes stopovers along the procession route into the central business district, where Gachagua is expected to address crowds before the final rally at Kamukunji.
Malala said the party had already shared its itinerary with the police to avoid clashes.
