Will Babu Owino and Sifuna form a new party?
The announcement has reignited speculation about the possible formation of a new political party, with some observers suggesting that Sifuna and Babu may be eyeing key positions in such a movement.
Others have urged the group to team up with Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro and encouraged Gen Z to rally behind them in what has been described as a push to liberate the country.
The alliance among the seven legislators has been growing steadily, especially after the creation of a broad-based government—an arrangement Sifuna, who also serves as Nairobi senator, has strongly opposed.
Earlier this month, Sifuna and Amisi threatened to quit ODM if party leader Raila Odinga were to endorse President William Ruto’s 2027 re-election bid.
Notably, Wamuchomba, an ally of former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, has also been critical of Ruto’s administration.
However, some Kenyans have dismissed speculation about a new party, arguing that most of the leaders involved lack the political influence to sustain such a project or even retain their current seats.

Had Babu Owino, Edwin Sifuna held meeting before?
Meanwhile, the planned meeting would occur just days after the leaders held another meeting at a Nairobi hotel.
The agenda of the meeting, in which all seven leaders were present except Barongo and Kimilu, was not publicly disclosed.
Amisi indicated that the discussions focused on the future of the country and expressed optimism that the talks could contribute to Kenya achieving a much-needed national revival.
