When was the 2025 Met Gala held?
Leading world-class athletes put their trade aside and owned the red carpet at this year's event at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on May 5, 2024.
This year's theme was "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style," which was the first time since 2003 that the gala focused exclusively on men's wear.
Which athletes attended Met Gala 2025?
Lewis Hamilton, who served as one of the co-chairs, was one of the most notable faces, along with the Williams sisters. The Ferrari driver also served as one of the co-chairs. NBA GOAT LeBron James was a no-show after injuring his knee last week. James served as the honorary chair.
Other notable athletes include reigning Olympic champions Noah Lyles, Gabby Thomas, Simone Biles and Sha'Carri Richardson.

1. Lewis Hamilton - Formula 1
We might as well start with one of the chairs, eh? Known for his bold fashion sense, the Brit driver stepped out in a ivory colored look designed by Wales Bonner. He completed the look with a custom Stephen Jones hat.

2. Serena Williams - Tennis
The 23-time Grand Slam winner looked resplendent in an icy blue gown with mesh in the middle, along quilted puffer cape.
3. Venus Williams - Tennis
Her sister, meanwhile, seemingly paid homage to tennis, rocking a forest green bedazzled polo shirt with a pleated skirt and a matching coat decorated with dark green fringe along with lapels and sleeves.
4. Simone Biles - Gymnastics
The most decorated gymnast of all time was dressed in a short blue dress with a white collar. The dress had a long train behind her, with shoes to complete the look.
She was flanked by her husband, Jonathan Owens, who wore a white suit with white fur draped over his shoulder.

5. Savannah James - LeBron James' wife
No LeBron, no problem. Los Angeles Lakers star, by his own words, sent his queen to hold the house down and she didn't disappoint.
"Unfortunately, because of my knee injury I sustained at the end of the season, I won’t be able to attend the Met Gala in NY tonight, as so many people have been asking and congratulating me on! Hate to miss a historical event! My beautiful, powerful Queen will be there holding the castle down as she always has done!"
Savannah donned a Hanifa striped gown with a mermaid skirt.
6. Noah Lyles - Track and field
The reigning men's 100m Olympic and world champion, who has always been passionate about fusing fashion and his sport, got his opportunity down the red carpet as well.
The outspoken American wore a Thom Browne suit and Ana Khouri jewellery.
"Tonight, I am wearing Ana Khouri for the jewellery. She's provided me with some beautiful, bestowed pearls, diamond-encrusted, very rare, very rare, and we know how to put a little flair in it, put it in the hair. You know, I got a whole handful ... And then Tom Brown has decided to dress me tonight," he said.
7. Sha'Carri Richardson - Track and field
Richardson, who stunned an elite field to become the world champion in 2023, wore a Valentino Alessandro Michele cream-coloured dress, almost yellow, with a chiffon strapping.
She also made sure to showcase her flashy nails.
8. Gabby Thomas - Track and field
The Harvard University graduate, who won three gold medals in Paris, looked flawless in a red off-the-shoulder gown dripping with beads.

Lupita Nyong'o dazzles at Met Gala 2025
Away from the athletes, Lupita Nyong'o was among those who stole the spotlight as well.
The Kenyan-born actress wore a mint green Chanel suit with a double-breast blazer, satin collar, and flowing chiffon cape that had fashion fans talking.
She completed the appearance with identical wide-leg slacks, an aquamarine satin blouse, and a matching satin bow.
