Adebayor endorses Benni McCarthy for coaching role

The 41-year-old has publicly backed Benni McCarthy, the former United first-team coach, and the newly appointed head coach for Kenya’s national team, the Harambee Stars.

Adebayor said that he was also there to wish good luck to his friend McCarthy, who had just been named as the head coach of the Kenya national team. He wished him nothing but the best

"He is good, and I wish him the best of luck and hopefully he will bring you guys back to the African Cup of Nation. Why not? maybe win it, but it's not going to be easy, but I wish him best of luck."

Adebayor also said that McCarthy was a great personality and a great person and that he had had a chance to meet him a couple of times when he played against him.

He recalled that when they lost in the finals with Monaco in 2005, he had been with Monaco, and they had lost to Porto.

"He is a great personality and is a great person, and I had a chance to meet him a couple of times when I played against him. Remember when we lost in the finals with Monaco in 2005, I was with Monaco, we lost to Porto," Adebayor stated.

The relationship between McCarthy and Adebayor

The former Monaco star also emphasized his relationship with McCarthy, stating that since then, they had become good friends.

He mentioned that everyone had witnessed McCarthy’s career, his achievements, and his contributions.

He also noted that McCarthy had served as an assistant manager for Manchester United before taking on the role of head coach for Kenya.

"Since then we became good friends and we all saw his career,what he has done and what he has achieved. And you know , he was assistant manager for manchester United before coming as head coach for kenya," Adebayor said.
