Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has compared his Old Trafford situation to that of Mikel Arteta.

The Portuguese coach has made a poor start as Man United boss and is overseeing their worst Premier League campaign.

Arteta has taken Arsenal to greater heights but struggled during his early days as coach.

Will Man United give Amroim time?

The former Sporting CP joined the Red Devils with high expectations thanks to his impressive time in Portugal.

However, a lack of enough training, players, injuries, has seen the team go backwards and they find themselves hovering above the relegation zone.

They sit 14th with 33 points with 11 matches to go and will need a few more wins to secure their Premier League status. Ahead of their clash against Arsenal, on Sunday, Amorim said he wouldn't be given time like Arteta.

"I will not have the time the Arteta had," said Amorim per BBC Sport. "I feel that [Arsenal] is a different club."
"It is a different club, in that aspect, the way how Arteta dealt with that [the issues] is an inspiration for everybody."

The 2020 FA Cup is the only trophy Arteta has won at Arsenal. He came close to ending Arsenal's 20-year league drought.

Arteta was close to getting fired in his first full season after a poor run but recovered well to make Arsenal a formidable team. he is considered one of the best coaches in Europe right now.

Both Premier League giants have not won the title since 2013 when Man United lifted it for the last time under Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Gunners on the other hand have not won the title since 2004 but have come close in the last few years. This season they will likely miss out again since they are 16 points behind leaders Liverpool.

In his first full season, Arteta finished eighth with 61 points and 13 defeats

Arsenal finished fifth in his second season and second in his last two seasons. It appears they will be runners-up again this season.

The Gunners registered 61, 69, 84 and now 89 points in Arteta's four seasons.

"All this is happening because you started believing, you started to be patient, you started to understand what we were trying to do," Arteta said after falling short last season.
"Don’t be satisfied because we want much more than that and we’re going to get it."
