How Chelsea Women won the 2024/2025 Women's Super League
The win took Chelsea to 54 points, nine points clear of Arsenal in second place with only two games remaining.
Sonia Bompastor's charges walked into the game at the Leigh Sports Village knowing that a point would be enough for the time to win another title. Arsenal had surprisingly lost to Aston Villa 5-2 earlier in the evening, giving them an opportunity to wrap up the title.
The win was a welcome one after their recent 8-2 humiliation at the hands of Barcelona in the Champions League. The Blues were taken through a football lesson by the European giants to extend their wait for a maiden Champions League title.
Nonetheless, they shook off that bitter disappointment to extend their reign as the champions of England. Bompastor is yet to lose a league game since replacing cult figure Emma Hayes at the end of last season.
Chelsea have won 17 games, with their only dropped points coming in the draws against Leicester City, Brighton and West Ham. They will now be keen on ensuring they go the whole season unbeaten in their remaining two games against Tottenham and Liverpool.

Afterwards, they have the FA Cup final against Manchester United as they seek to complete a domestic treble. They had earlier won the Subway Cup after beating Manchester City in the final.
How much will Chelsea Women earn for winning WSL?
The West Londoners will only earn £500,000 (approximately KSh 84 million) as reported by BBC Sports.
While the figure looks decent on paper, it is significantly lower compared to what Liverpool, who won the Premier League on Sunday, earned.
The women's game remains greatly underfunded and undersupported as they grapple to pull in the same revenue and crowds as their men counterparts.
Who is the most expensive women's player?
To put this into further perspective, the women's game only recently surpassed the million-euro mark for a player's transfer after Chelsea signed Naomi Girma from San Diego Wave in January. On the flipside, Neymar is the most expensive player in the world after Paris Saint-Germain forked out €222 million for him - and that was way back in 2017.
The winners of the Adobe Women's FA Cup will get £430,000 (approximately KSh 71 million) while the winners of the men's FA Cup will get £2,000,000 (KSh 334 million). Manchester City will play Crystal Palace in this season's final.
Sonia Bompastor reacts after winning WSL
Head coach Bompastor revealed that she expected the league to be a little bit more competitive. Chelsea won the league on the last day last season.
"Starting the season, I was not expecting us to be in that position, to be able to achieve that,' Bompastor continued. 'With two games left, I certainly thought we would have to fight until the end...this league is really competitive," she said as captured on Chelsea's website.
"'So just for us to be in that position, to be unbeaten, still be unbeaten, and to achieve what we just achieved is something really good, but no it was not easy to come as a new manager to a new country, to adjust to a new league. I learned a lot. But alongside me, I had a great bunch of players and also a great staff."
Why some Liverpool players may not get medals
TUKO.co.ke has also reported that some Liverpool players may miss out on EPL medals despite playing a role in the title-winning season.
Liverpool won the league with four games to spare after thrashing Tottenham Hotspur 5-1.
The league will give them 40 medals, which they will distribute among the players and staff as they see fit.
