How the first legs Champions League semis unfolded

PSG and Arsenal were the first to play on Tuesday, April 29. The French giants scored after four minutes thanks to the in-form Ousmane Dembele.

They dominated the majority of the contest and could've scored more. The Gunners' equaliser from Mikel Merino was chalked off by VAR, and their comeback attempt did not succeed late in the game.

It was a painful home defeat for Mikel Arteta's team, who will need to win to avoid elimination. PSG will advance if they avoid defeat in the second leg next week. Arteta is positive Arsenal can win.

"We have a lot of chances to be in that final and as I repeat myself, you have to do something, especially in the competition, to earn the right to be in the final and the time to do it is going to be in Paris," he said

On Wednesday, Barcelona twice came from behind to draw 3-3 with Inter Milan at home. Although Lamine Yamal stole the show, a draw was not a great result.

Inter went 2-0 up in the first half, but Barcelona levelled matters before halftime. In the second half, they went down 3-2 but recovered to salvage a draw.

"The second leg is still to come and we have to win it. It's a final before the final," said Barçelona boss Hansi Flick. "We have 90 minutes to get to the final, our objective. We have a chance."
