Why Man United are not holding award dinner

Man United finished eighth last season, their worst finish in the Premier League era, but this season, they are eight spots lower. There was talk of relegation a few months ago, but they survived.

Now, the club has decided against holding an awards dinner at the end of the season for the third time in four years.

The ceremony usually includes awarding prizes to the men's, women's and youth players, but this season's event has been cancelled, per BBC Sport.

The club is on track for their worst season since 1973/74, but they could still play in next season's Champions League by winning the Europa League next week.

Rúben Amorim's team faces Tottenham Hotspur in Bilbao in the Europa League final at San Mamés and are favourites to win, despite losing to the Premier League rivals three times this season

Bruno Fernandes and Ella Toone won the men's and women's awards last season, respectively.

The men's and women's teams won the FA Cup last season, and Marc Skinner's side face Chelsea in the final this Sunday.

The Red Devils have just 39 points from their 36 Premier League games this season, having suffered 17 defeats.

How Man United have regressed in EPL

Despite dreadful results in the Premier League, Man United have been impressive in Europe. They are, in fact, the only unbeaten team in European competitions.

Amorim was brought in in November to replace Erik ten Hag after a poor start to the season. However, things have gotten worse under the Portuguese, and fans are beginning to get concerned.

They have won four league matches in 2025, and their performances are not getting better. He said he will leave if poor performances continue.

"Everybody is thinking about the [Europa League] final. The final is not the issue. We have bigger things to think about," he said after they lost to West Ham on Sunday. "I'm talking about myself and the culture in the club and the culture in the team. We need to change that.

Man United won't have Europa League parade

Earlier, TUKO.co.ke reported that Man United will not hold an open-top bus parade if they win the Europa League.

The club will instead organise a barbecue for the team and staff 24 hours after the final at their training complex.

The main reason is that they have a packed schedule after the final game of the season. They will hop on the plane to Asia for a brief pre-season tour.
