Man United to keep barbecue plans

Man United decided not to have an open-top bus parade if they won the Europa League. They instead opted to have a barbecue in case they lifted the trophy.

They produced a lacklustre performance against Tottenham to lose the final and will have to face a heartbroken fanbase in their final game on Sunday, May 25.

According to the Mirror, the Red Devils will proceed with a barbecue despite a humiliating end to the season. Players, their families and staff are expected to attend the party.

The club also did not hold the end-of-season Player of the Year award ceremony.

They will miss out on European football in the 2025/26 season and could finish as low as 18th in the Premier League. Ruben Amorim’s future is under intense scrutiny, but for now, he appears to be safe.

Man United will also head for a brief pre-season tour in Asia next week after the conclusion of the 2024/25 season.

They are facing a huge summer transfer window. The 13-time Premier League champions will be looking to revamp their squad. There will likely be many departures and arrivals.

What did Man United players say about 2024/25?

Amroim said he is ready to walk if the board and fans don't want him at he club, and he's willing to go without compensation. Captain Bruno Fernandes backed his compatriot.

“I know it’s difficult to understand that, it’s difficult to see that. But I still do think that he’s the right man to lead the club...as my other teammates said, and I repeat myself, I do think he’s the right man," Fernandes said via the Guardian.

Fernandes said he is also ready to go if the club wants to cash in on him. Luke Shaw echoed his captain's sentiments.

"We have to look at the positives and the only positive thing is we an only go up from here. We're rock bottom now. I can say 100% he's the right man."

Man United fans will certainly expect better performances next season. Amorim has overseen Man United's worst Premier League campaign.

It remains to be seen what the club's ownership will do in the next few months to improve the team.
