Manchester United's 2024/2025 season

Ruben Amorim and his squad flew to Asia, where they will have a post-season tour before they break for the summer holidays.

They ended their worst season in recent times with a 2-0 win over Aston Villa at Old Trafford. The win came after Emi Martinez had been sent off, and Villa denied a controversial goal, which eventually cost Unai Emery's side a spot in the Champions League.

The result helped Manchester United leapfrog Wolverhampton Wanderers and finish in 15th place with 42 points.

The Red Devils also ended the season trophyless for the first time in three seasons after they were beaten in the Europa League final by Tottenham last week. The Europa League was their last chance at salvaging their season and qualifying for the Champions League, but it ended in heartbreak as Tottenham ran out victors in Bilbao.

Ruben Amorim apologises to Manchester United fans

Addressing the fans at the end of their game against Aston Villa, United head coach Amorim was remorseful and apologised for the 'disaster season' they had.

"First of all, I want to apologise for this season. I know you are really disappointed with me and with the team. We are very grateful for your support during the season and I know that it’s been really hard. I know it was really hard to support us in many games, but now we have to make a choice, or we stay stuck in the past because this season is in the past, it’s over," as captured on Manchester United's website.

The former Sporting Lisbon manager, however, assured the United faithful that the bad days were behind them and good days are coming.

"Six months ago, in my first three games in charge, with two victories and one draw, I said to you the storm is coming. Today, after this disastrous season, I want to tell you the good days are coming."

Why United players aren't going for holiday yet

Rather than go for holidays and lick their wounds, the club organised a post-season tour due to sponsorship reasons.

Mail Sport reports that United will be paid around £8 million to play in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Hong Kong.

The players will also interact with their fans from Asia before breaking off for the holidays after the last game.

Which games will Manchester United play in Asia?

Amorim's side will face ASEAN All Stars at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur on May 28 before playing Hong Kong on May 30.
