Michael Olunga leaves Al Duhail

The Kenyan striker leaves the club as the all-time goalscorer with 130 goals, but it remains to be seen where he will land in the coming months.

The 31-year-old took to social media to announce the news.

"Veni Vidi Vici. Thank you for everything, Al Duhail, leaving as all-time goal scorer, 130 goals and memories, thank you for the trust," the former Gor Mahia man said.

Olunga has now played in Sweden, China, Japan, and Spain. He remains the only Kenyan to play in La Liga.

He joined the Qatari side in January 2021 and has been a reliable figure, bagging two Golden Boots and one Qatari league

He was not named in Harambee Stars' latest squad, which will play against Chad in two friendly matches next month in Morocco.

Harambee Stars coach Benni McCarthy praised the striker and called him the leader of the team.

“He's our leader. He’s the guy I look to set the example for the rest of the team because he’s one of the best finishers I’ve seen in the game. If there are players who prove to be better than him, they will play. But right now, he’s the best we have, so he will be there," he said via FKF.

Victor Wanyama returns to Harambee Stars squad

Earlier, TUKO.co.ke reported that Victor Wanyama made his return to the Kenya national team.

McCarthy included the veteran midfielder for Kenya's friendly matches against Chad, set to be held in Morocco.

Wanyama last played for Kenya nearly five years ago, but a new FKF regime and coach have brought him back.
