What could Bruno Fernandes earn at Al-Hilal?

According to The Athletic, Bruno Fernandes is seriously considering a move to Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal.

Fernandes and Man United are on a post-season tour in Asia, but rumours have emerged about potential transfer moves after their worst Premier League season.

The report adds that 2024 Saudi Pro League champions Al-Hilal had negotiations with Fernandes' agent in the Middle East.

If the deal goes through, he could reportedly earn €25 million (approximately KSh 3.6 billion) a year, which is triple his current salary.

Al-Hilal are prepared to pay £80 million (approximately KSh 14 billion) as transfer fee.

It remains to be seen if the Portuguese midfielder will leave. He said he is open to leaving after Man United lost the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur last week.

“I’ve always said I will be here until the club says to me that it’s time to go. I’m eager to do more, to be able to bring the club to great days," he told reporters...If the club thinks it’s time to part ways because they want to do some cash in or whatever, it’s what it is, and football sometimes is like this.”

Fernandes' contract with the Premier League giants ends in 2027.

He registered 19 goals and 20 assists in 57 matches in the just-concluded season. He has made nearly 300 appearances for the club, registering 98 goals and 87 assists, per Transfermarkt.

Man United fans' react to Bruno Fernandes Saudi links

@KobiiBanks:

"Bruno Fernandes leaving isn't even that deep. We've seen many leave from Cantona, Beckham, Rooney, Vidic, Cristiano.. way too many that made a huge difference. We'll eventually recover, we're Manchester United. When is the big question."

@Z0hair7:

"Selling Bruno Fernandes and buying for this gaffer’s system is not gonna end well. At all."

@MrTomMcDermott:

"If #MUFC are going to sell Bruno for upwards of £80m then I’m absolutely fine with it. Club shouldn’t be so reliant on one player, and in a few months, he’s 31. That’s the reality."

@dipsMUFC:

"Selling Bruno would be a disaster. No guarantee the money gets used wisely, and losing someone who stabilises the team in tough moments? Madness. You don’t throw away your anchor when the ship’s already rocking."

@AdamCrafton_:

"I have no idea where anyone has confidence or evidence to say Man Utd will recruit with £100m (or whatever they may get) players who can provide more than Bruno Fernandes."
