What happened during the Gen Z protests?

On Tuesday, June 25, thousands of Kenyans flocked to the streets across the country to remember the victims killed in last year's deadly Finance Bill protests.

The protests, especially in Nairobi, turned deadly as demonstrators engaged in running battles with police officers. More than 10 people were killed during the protests.

During the protest, property worth millions was also destroyed, prompting Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen to ask the police to use lethal force. Nevertheless, calm continues to return across Kenya.

What did Man United YouTuber say about Kenya?

A video emerged online of a controversial Man United YouTuber who goes by the name Mark Goldbridge addressing the Gen Z protests.

During one of his livestreams, Goldbridge was informed about "mass police killings" in Kenya.

"I try to avoid the news, but if that's what's going on there, thoughts with you on that one, horrible news there," he responded. " That is why I try to avoid the news a lot, especially when we are talking about football. It is supposed to be escapism but real live obviously hits."

It has become a platform for Manchester United fans to express their opinions.

However, Goldbridge has received strong criticism from Man United fans for his coverage of the club. His criticism of players, including Marcus Rashford, has drawn harsh backlash.

“I can understand why people don’t like my opinions and want to have a go at me,” Goldbridge told Four Four Two. “However, I don’t think I’m the sort of person that people would want to come up to and punch in the face or shower with abuse. Most of what I do, I’m passionate about, but there is a fun banter element to it as well.”

Goldbridge watched his Man United team produce their worst campaign last season. They finished 15th in the Premier League and lost the Europa League final.

"Berrada(Man United CEO) needs to get those signings in ASAP. If we're mid-table after the first 5, then it's hard to see Amorim surviving. Essentially we have a team ready to go for pre-season so we can hit the season running"

The Red Devils have a tough start to next season as they will welcome Arsenal to Old Trafford on the first day. They will then travel to Fulham before welcoming newly-promoted Burnley in game week 3.

The first Manchester derby will come in game week 4 at the Etihad before Chelsea come visiting to wrap up the first five fixtures for Amorim's side.

United have already signed Matheus Cunha, with more summer arrivals like Bryan Mbeumo expected to arrive in the coming days.
