More than 50 players in the Premier League will leave their clubs at midnight on June 30 after their contracts expired.

How did Manchester United perform?

The Red Devils are coming off a season where they performed dismally, finishing in 15th place with a paltry 42 points.

It was a catastrophic season from all fronts after Ruben Amorim failed to steady the ship after he was brought in midseason to replace Erik ten Hag.

They also lost the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur, which could have given them a lifeline by qualifying for the Champions League next season.

Ruben Amorim: Good days are coming

Speaking after their final game of the season, when they beat Aston Villa at Old Trafford, Amorim admitted that the season had been tough.

"We are very grateful for your support during the season, and I know that it’s been hard. I know it was hard to support us in many games, but now we have to make a choice, or we stay stuck in the past because this season is in the past, it’s over," as captured on the club's website.

The former Sporting Lisbon manager, however, promised the fans that good days were coming as he prepares to take charge of his first preseason in England.

"Today, after this disastrous season, I want to tell you the good days are coming. If there is one club in the world that proves in the past that it can overcome any situation, any disaster, it’s our club."

Which players will leave Manchester United?

The club had already confirmed the players who won't be offered new contracts. Jonny Evans, Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelof are the senior players in that list of released players.

Evans concluded his second stint at the club while Lindelof left after eight years. Eriksen joined United in 2022 after completing an incredible comeback to football after suffering that cardiac arrest at Euro 2020.

"A huge thank you to all the fans who have supported me through the last 3 years as a Manchester United player."

"Thank you to all the kind and hardworking people at the club who have made me and my family feel so welcomed since day one. And a big thank you to my teammates, it’s been a pleasure sharing the changing room and pitch together!
"It’s been an amazing time and I’ve made some incredible memories that I will keep forever," Eriksen said on Instagram.

Who else could leave Manchester United?

Alejandro Garnacho is almost certain to leave the club after falling out with Amorim.

The Argentine winger's comments after the Europa League final reportedly rubbed his head coach the wrong way, who told him to find a new club.

Returning loanees Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Antony are also primed for moves elsewhere.

Jonny Evans lands new role

On the day he was supposed to leave the club, Manchester United announced they had given Jonny Evans a new role in the organisation.

Evans will now be the head of loans and pathways, marking an end to his playing career as he transitions into management.

The Northern Irishman will work closely with the director of football, Jason Wilcox, and the director of the academy to prepare the young talent.
