Inside Africa Global Logistics’ deal with CAF
But even as the girls do battle across the six venues in Morocco, the official logistics partner of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Africa Global Logistics (AGL), has launched a new campaign for the event.
‘Moving Africa Forward’ will be the official slogan for the women’s showpiece and the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which will also be held in Morocco in December.
What is AGL’s Moving Africa Forward?
The campaign is part of the broader deal AGL penned with CAF in April this year. ‘Moving Africa Forward’ is a commitment to supporting African football and, more broadly, contributing to the transformation of the continent.
“We share the same vision of unity and excellence for Africa. We aim to support the successful organisation of major tournaments like AFCON and WAFCON, and also to transform African football into a lasting driver of economic and social development. Thanks to our partnership with CAF, we celebrate the passion of millions of Africans for football, while reinforcing our commitment to local content, engaging with communities, and promoting women’s inclusion,” said the President of Africa Global Logistics, Philippe Labonne, in April.

Fight for women’s inclusion
By partnering with CAF for WAFCON 2024, AGL draws parallels between two separate worlds that have long been considered to be a preserve for men: logistics and sports.

In 2024, women accounted for 20% of AGL's employees and 25% of managers. The pan-African initiative underlines AGL's commitment to moving the needle and encouraging diversity and inclusion in all fields and at all levels.
"This is our way of saying that the future of the continent will be built with women, in all areas: on the ground as well as in business. Supporting the Women's AFCON is also an opportunity to celebrate African women and invest in a more inclusive, equitable and forward-looking Africa," said the Director of Communications and Sponsorship at AGL, Khadija Komara.
WAFCON prize money
This is in line with CAF’s deliberate efforts to promote the women’s game. The prize money for this year’s event has been increased by 45% with the overall winner’s prize money getting a 100% increase.
The winner in the July 26 final will now receive USD 1,000,000 (KSh 129 million), as captured on CAF's website.
AGL will run the campaigns on their social media platforms and on-site in Morocco to showcase how sports and business can become powerful levers of emancipation for women in Africa.
UEFA Women's Champions League prize money
In a separate report, Arsenal Women got a sizeable amount of money after beating Barcelona Femeni to win the Women's Champions League.
A solo goal from Stina Blackstenius was enough to dethrone the reigning champions in Lisbon.
It was redemption for the Gunners, who saw their London rivals Chelsea win all the domestic trophies.
