Chelsea star Cole Palmer has shared the details of what US president Donald Trump told him during Chelsea's celebrations for winning the FIFA Club World Cup on Sunday, July 13.

Trump and FIFA president Gianni Infantino presented the trophy to the Blues, but the 47th US president refused to leave the stage, preventing the players from celebrating.
The post-match conversation was overshadowed by Trump’s drama. However, it was still a fantastic day for Chelsea, who thrashed the favourites Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 to lift the trophy.
How did Donald Trump ruin Chelsea's celebrations?
The 23-year-old scored two first-half goals at the Met Life Stadium in New York City and assisted Joao Pedro's goal as the Blues dismantled Paris Saint-Germain to win the revamped competition.
The England international was named the player of the tournament thanks to his match-winning performance against the Champions League winners.
Interestingly, it was Trump who presented Palmer with his player of the tournament award. The two shared a brief chat after the presentation.
As the Chelsea players were handed the trophy, Trump chose to stay on the podium, leaving the players, including Palmer, visibly confused.
"I knew he was going to be here but I didn't know he was going to be on the stand when we lifted the trophy, so I was a bit confused, yeah," Palmer said after the game.
“It was an upset today, I guess,” Trump told reporters. “But it was a great match.”
What did Donald Trump tell Cole Palmer?
Palmer continued his celebrations on Monday by visiting the birthplace of his grandfather, St Kitts and Nevis.
He was greeted with a hero's welcome and took the opportunity to reveal Trump’s words.
“When he gave me the award, he said his son is my biggest fan,” Palmer said per the Daily Mail. “I can't remember what I said. I think I said, ‘Thank you’ or something.”
The US president has five children and 11 grandchildren. He has three sons, Donald Trump Jr, Eric Trump, and Barron Trump, his youngest child.
Palmer spoke during his trip to St Kitts and Nevis, which he said was special.
"Landing in St Kitts off the back of winning the Club World Cup felt really special. It’s where my grandad’s love for football started. The island’s beautiful and really chilled. I can’t wait to explore the mountains, rainforest and sea – and to try out the food.”

What next for Cole Palmer and Chelsea?
Palmer and Chelsea players will take a brief break before returning to pre-season training. they will play their first pre-season friendly against Bayer Leverkusen on August 8 before facing AC Milan two days later.
They will open their Premier League season against Crystal Palace on August 17.
With their Club World Cup victory and UEFA Conference League win, the Blues are now regarded as serious contenders for the league title, a crown they last claimed in 2017.
How much did Chelsea get for Club World Cup win?
