Barcelona have confirmed the signing of Manchester United star Rashford on a season-long loan until the end of the 2025/26 campaign
The England star spent the second half of the 2024/25 season on loan at Aston Villa and made an impact, although they missed out on Champions League football.
Why did Marcus Rashford join Barcelona?
The 27-year-old winger was dropped by Man United boss Ruben Amorim in mid-December and never represented his boyhood club again.
The Portuguese coach, who was appointed in November, said he and Rashford didn't see football the same.
"I couldn't get Marcus to see the way you're supposed to play football and to train the way I see it," Amorim said via BBC Sport.
"Sometimes you have one player that is really good with one coach, and the same player with another coach is different."
The Athletic reported that the England star was keen on leaving the Red Devils, and the Premier League club wanted to take his wages off their books.
How did fans react to Marcus Rashford's move to Barcelona?
@CraigCharles23
It’s not a favourable thing for many on this platform but I wish Rashy all the best on this move and hope he can get back to his best. He’s given us plenty of great moments in a bad period for the club.
@half_turn:
"Incredible deal, man. I'm so excited to watch Rashford at Barcelona. He can eat so, so much off of Yamal's passes if they play together enough."
@KolaSekoni:
"People saying it didn’t work at United it absolutely did I saw this man debut at 18 as a last minute change during warm ups and absolutely smashed it every year."
@edulchinoy
"One day, people will realize just how unfairly he was ostracized by Amorim and the fans for absolutely no reason."
Why did Marcus Rashford take no.14?
Rashford wore numbers 39, 19 and 10 at Manchester United but will now wear no.14 at Barcelona. Pablo Torre wore the number last season.
Some legendary players who wore the number include Thierry Henry, Javier Mascherano, Philippe Coutinho, Hristo Stoichkov, and Ronald Koeman.

In June, he highlighted how Thierry Henry inspired him. The World Cup winner wore the No. 14 at Arsenal, making the number iconic.
“I see myself reflected in Henry,” he said via Standard Sport. “He's comfortable playing on the left and also in the middle. He's a free player.
“As I've developed, the number 9 position has become more comfortable, more natural."

Rashford played 39 times with Ronaldo but said Barcelona legend Messi is the greatest ever.
He shared the pitch with Messi a few times in the Champions League, and now he gets to represent his club.
