Alejandro Garnacho shared a farewell message for his former Manchester United teammate, Marcus Rashford, who joined Barcelona on a season-long loan.

Rashford spent the second half of the season at Aston Villa and was expected to move abroad to a Champions League team.

When pre-season started earlier this month, Manchester United told five players, including Rashford, to find new clubs.

The England star is now the first player of the group to find a new club.

On Wednesday, July 23, Barcelona announced that they had acquired Rashford on a season-long loan deal until June 2026.

The 27-year-old winger will now share the pitch with Ballon d'Or contenders Lamine Yamal and Raphinha next season.

"The situation with United is the club is in a period of change and they have been for a while. I don't have anything bad to say about Manchester United. It's been an important part of not only my career but my life. So I'm grateful for the opportunity to play for them," he told a news conference.

Having spent his entire career at Manchester United, his form in recent years had notably declined. However, he enjoyed a standout season in 2022/23 under Erik ten Hag.

What did Alejandro Garnacho say about Rashford?

Rashford made a joint post with the La Liga champions on Instagram as part of the announcement and has now been liked by millions of fans.

Bruno Fernandes, David de Gea, Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro and Garnacho liked said post. The Argentine left a comment on the post that got people talking.

His comment comes at a time when he, too, is seeking a new challenge.

The youngster was dropped for the first time by Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim in December. While Rashford struggled for a place, the Argentine continued to feature prominently in the squad.

Where will Garnacho play after Man United exit?

The winger has been linked with a move to Chelsea, but no deal has materialised yet. According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Garnacho wants to stay in the Premier League.

Garnacho will likely want to join a team in the Champions League. A move to Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City is unlikely. It remains to be seen if he can join Tottenham Hotspur or the Blues in the coming weeks.

Other players who will leave Manchester United

Apart from Rashford and Garnacho, Amorim has also sidelined Antony, who was on loan at Real Betis.

Jadon Sancho (Chelsea) and Tyrell Malacia (PSV Eindhoven) have also been asked to train apart from the first team as they continue looking for different clubs.
