Name printing when buying jerseys is a common practice, with many fans often putting the names of the players they adore or their own names.
Which names can't Manchester United fans print?
An X user, Si Lloyd, recently shared that he was prevented from getting the names of Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham and Eric Cantona.
Search option is now available at TUKO! Feel free to search the content on topics/people you enjoy reading about in the top right corner ;)
"Took my son for his new shirt the other day. Had no idea the club weren’t allowed to print Cantona, Beckham or Ronaldo on shirts."
Si Lloyd is a lifelong Manchester United fan and the author of UnitedWithDad.
Why Manchester United fans can't print the names
According to a picture shared by Si Lloyd, a poster on the wall read,
"Due to licensing restrictions, we are unable to print Ronaldo, Beckham and Cantona."
A spot check by TUKO.co.ke on Manchester United's official store also revealed that a fan can't customise a shirt using Ronaldo's name.
"You're using blacklisted words, please reconsider," read the prompt.

The post on X elicited reactions from fans online, with many wondering why such a directive was in place.
John Carey said,
"What happens if your own surname is one of the 3 mentioned and you want to have it printed on the shirt? It’s wrong that they can trademark a name that belongs to many other people."
Eoin Harrington said,
"Discovered this trying to get a Beckham one before. Think the club aren’t allowed as those three lads own their own image rights, at least that’s what they told me!"
United Rex said,
"I feel sorry for the kids with genuinely the same surnames. 9-year-old Kaiden Cantona, 13-year-old Hayden Beckham and 3-year-old Jayden Ronaldo. Poor kids..."
While RetroDevilsPod said,
"I presume Ronaldo and maybe Cantona still have Nike contracts that might be an issue with United being adidas. Beckham must have some serious image rights contracts if they can’t put him on a shirt. Bizarre!"
Ronaldo, Beckham and Cantona legacies at Manchester United
The trio are arguably among the best players to have played for the Red Devils. Coincidentally, they all donned the number 7 shirt, which Ronaldo made popular throughout his career.
"All players know, in Manchester and around the world as well, that the number seven is a mythic number at this club. In the beginning, when I signed for Manchester, I was very nervous to see the full stadium. The passion that the fans have for football kind of surprised me a lot," said Ronaldo to the club's website.
“Sir Alex Ferguson said to me, ‘You’re going to take the number seven'. It was that kind of moment that you never forget. I knew the history of the number seven in the club, but at the same time, I was feeling good."
All three players won major honours for the club under the legendary Sir Ferguson. Mason Mount currently wears the number 7 shirt.
How much does a Manchester United shirt cost?
According to Manchester United's store, the price varies. For instance, the home shirt of their new signing, Bryan Mbeumo, is KSh 19,200, complete with a club printing of his name and number at the back.
It is, however, KSh 21,100 when it is EPL printing plus badge. Kids' jerseys are KSh 16,500.
