CHAN 2024: Kasarani, Benjamin Mkapa and All Stadiums That Will Be Used for Pamoja Tournament

Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda have left nothing to chance in their pursuit to host a successful African Nations Championships (CHAN).

After two postponements, the tournament will finally kick off this Saturday and run through to August 30.
Who will host first and final game of CHAN 2024?
Tanzania will have the honour of hosting the opening ceremony at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on August 2.
The final will be in Nairobi at the Kasarani Stadium, while Uganda's Mandela Stadium will host the third-place playoff.
Kenya has particularly struggled with having an accredited stadium for a long time, and the new-look Kasarani and Nyayo stadiums would be welcome news.
Harambee Stars have been forced to play their AFCON and World Cup qualifiers in Uganda and South Africa due to the lack of a stadium.
CHAN 2024 stadiums
Let's take a look at all the stadiums that will be used for CHAN 2024
1. Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani - Nairobi, Kenya
The stadium, which is located along Thika Road, opposite Safari Park Hotel, was initially a 60,000-seater. However, after recent renovations, the capacity has now been reduced to around 48,000, which is still sizeable all things considered.
Apart from the main stadium, renovations, the pitch also has two adjacent training pitches, which will also be in use during the tournament.
"It reaffirms our standing as a premier destination for international competitions and sets the stage for hosting future continental tournaments, including the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations," said Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya during the handover as quoted on CAF's website.
The stadium will host all Harambee Stars matches, one of the quarter-finals and the final.
2. Nyayo Stadium - Nairobi, Kenya
Originally a 30,000-seater stadium, Nyayo's capacity has also gone down to below 20,000.
The stadium witnessed crazy numbers earlier this year when it hosted Harambee Stars' game against Gabon and the Mashemeji derby.
Nyayo will host Group A matches of Morocco vs Angola, DRC vs Zambia, Zambia vs Angola, Morocco vs Zambia, DRC vs Morocco and the Group C match of Algeria vs Niger.

3. Nelson Mandela Stadium - Uganda
More popularly known as Namboole, the stadium will come alive on Monday, August 4, when the Uganda Cranes take on Algeria in the opening game.
The stadium, which is located in Bweyogerere, east of Kampala’s CBD, hosts 45,000 people. It was initially constructed in 1997 and named after former South African president Nelson Mandela.
It will host all Group C matches save for Algeria vs Niger. Group C has Uganda, Algeria, Niger, Guinea and South Africa. It will also host one quarter-final, one semi-final and the third-place playoff.

4. Benjamin Mkapa Stadium - Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
With a seating capacity of 60,000, the Benjamin Mkapa stadium in Dar as been the heart of sporting activities in the country and East Africa.
It was initially constructed in 2007 and named after their former president.
It will host the opening ceremony and all Group B games. Group B has Tanzania, Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso and the Central African Republic.
It will also host one quarter-final and one semi-final.
5. Amaan Stadium - Zanzibar
The semi-autonomous archipelago of Zanzibar will also not be left out of the fun. The 15,000-seater stadium recently hosted the CAF Confederation Cup final between RS Berkane and Simba SC.
They'll host most of Group D matches except Nigeria vs Congo, which will be played at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in mainland Tanzania.
