Though not a major trophy, the win in the United States will boost their morale after a lacklustre season that saw them finish 15th in the Premier League.

What is the Premier League Summer Series?

The Summer Series is a pre-season friendly tournament organised by the Premier League outside England, similar to the Premier League Asia Trophy.

The 2025 edition had four Premier League teams and was held over eight days to help the teams get ready for the new season.

How Manchester United won Summer Series

Manchester United opened their campaign against West Ham with Bruno Fernandes scoring twice. They then demolished Bournemouth 4-1, leaving them needing only a draw against Everton to win the trophy.

And get a draw they did as David Moyes' side frustrated them at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

New signing Bryan Mbeumo finally made his debut alongside Matheus Cunha, with Amad Diallo completing the front three.

Diallo was hauled down by James Tarkowski inside the area, allowing Fernandes to score his third goal of the tournament in the 19th minute.

Iliman Ndiaye equalised on the other end in the 40th minute to take the game all-square at the break.

Mason Mount came off the bench to score a beautiful goal to restore United's lead in the 69th minute. The advantage, however, didn't last long as Ayden Heaven scored a comical goal to earn Everton a point.

It was the only point David Moyes' side got in the USA after losing to Bournemouth and West Ham. West Ham finished second behind United after beating Bournemouth 2-0.

There was a trophy presentation afterwards, with captain Fernandes lifting it.

How did Mbeumo perform vs Everton?

Speaking after the game, Amorim revealed that he was impressed with Mbeumo's debut, stating that the Cameroon international was going to be an important part of their squad.

"I think he played well. Of course, he needs to improve in a lot of things. You can feel the physicality of Bryan is not perfect; that is normal, but the first touch, the way he turns and connects to the other guys, the runs that he made, it is really important. And he is going to be really important to our team," he said via Manchester United's website.

The club CEO, Omar Berrada, revealed that he is cautiously optimistic about the new campaign.

"The mood has been very good. The culture, the standards, the values, we are trying to ensure that we create a team spirit that allows the players to compete at the highest level. We have very high standards, and Ruben is very clear about that. It is something we want to see with the players, with the staff, with everyone, because what we want to do is to win and to start winning titles as soon as possible," via United's website.
