The 2025/26 season kicks off in a week, with reigning champions Liverpool hosting Bournemouth on Friday, August 15.

The Reds have been active in the transfer market, as have last season's runners-up Arsenal, UEFA Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup champions Chelsea, and Manchester City.

Who are the leading Premier League contenders?

The Reds won the title by 10 points and are seen as the team to beat after a massive transfer window.

Arsenal finished second for the third consecutive season last year and are determined not to settle for second place again next season.

They have signed striker Viktor Gyokeres, midfielder Martin Zubimendi and Noni Madueke to strengthen their attack.

Man City, on the other hand, went all out in the transfer market after Pep Guardiola's worst season as a coach. He has won the Premier League every season from 2017/18 apart from 2020 and 2025.

They brought in the likes of Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Ait-Nouri and James Trafford to improve their squad.

Meanwhile, Chelsea strengthened their squad after qualifying for the Champions League. The Blues haven’t won the competition since 2017 and are considered outside favourites.

Who will win 2026 Premier League?

Man City have dominated the Premier League since Pep Guardiola arrived in 2016. Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool challenged him and stopped them once.

Howard picked Liverpool to win it again.

"Liverpool, for me, are the frontrunners," he said via Metro Sports. "They’ve made incredible signings. They’re going to start the season flying, I know it."
"[But] I can’t bet against Pep Guardiola. They’ve only had one bad season under him. They could come good," Howard added. "Arsenal have done amazing business [too] – they got their No.9 (Viktor Gyokeres) so they could really challenge."

Who has hardest start in 2025/26 Premier League?

Among the contenders, Arsenal have the toughest start to the season. They open against Man United and will face Liverpool and Man City in their first five matches.

Liverpool also have a tough start. They will play Man City and Everton in their five opening games. Man City will play Tottenham Hotspur, Man United, and Arsenal.
