Premier League teams have been busy in the transfer window, signing top talent from around the world, with 26 days remaining until it shuts and more potential incomings expected.

As the 2025/26 Premier League season prepares to kick off next Friday, August 15, teams are scrambling to strengthen their squads in the final days of the transfer window.

Defending champions Liverpool have been the most active in this transfer window, which is surprising given their comfortable title win last season.

Premier League clubs continue to dominate the transfer market, with reports suggesting that figures this window have already hit billions of shillings.

For the past 30 years, the English top flight has steadily grown into the world's biggest and richest football league, leaving Spain's La Liga, Italy's Serie A, France's Ligue 1, and Germany's Bundesliga trailing far behind.

Their financial power has allowed lower-ranked clubs in the English top flight to pay hefty fees and wages for top global talent, something most clubs across Europe would struggle to match.

Broadcast revenue from around the world has also given teams the financial freedom to invest wisely, making the Premier League tougher and more competitive than other European leagues.

Who are top 6 Premier League spenders?

In the current window, English teams have splashed staggering amounts on players, with Liverpool leading the charge and seemingly poised to make even more additions. Clubs have reportedly spent KSh 310 billion this window, per Transfermarkt.

Liverpool

The reigning champions have spent the most so far. Transfermarkt put their total spending so far at £252.2 million (KSh 43 billion). Some of their major arrivals include Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike.

Chelsea

The Blues have signed many players since the Todd Boehly-led consortium in 2022. They have spent £240.2 million (KSh 41 billion) so far, with Liam Delap and Joao Pedro among the arrivals.

Arsenal

The Gunners fell short of the title last season and are leaving nothing to chance in the transfer market. They've secured striker Viktor Gyökeres and midfielder Martin Zubimendi, all in a bid to claim the title next season. Mikel Arteta's side have spent £192.6 million (KSh 33 billion).

Man City

Pep Guardiola's side have splashed £153.4 million (KSh 26 billion) in the market, with the likes of Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders arriving before the FIFA Club World Cup.

Man United

The Red Devils are coming off their worst Premier League season and have signed Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo so far, taking their spending to £131.5 million (KSh 22.6 billion).

Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs won the Europa League, sacked their coach and are making some top signings. Mohammed Kudus is their biggest arrival so far. They have spent a total of £127.9 million (KSh 22 billion).

What transfer 'test' does Man United have?

The Slovenian has been strongly linked with Man United, who are trying to bolster their attack.
