CAF promptly suspended ticket sales and later limited the number of tickets available to Kenyans to 27,000, which represents 60% of the stadium's capacity.
After the first game, Kenya was fined KSh 2.5 million for security lapses ahead of their clash against DR Congo.
Benni McCarthy's team will face Zambia on Sunday, August 17, hoping for a win that will send them to the quarter-finals.
Kenya has done brilliantly in the tournament so far, with two wins in their three matches, including a draw against Angola and a win over Morocco while playing with 10 men.
How has Kenya responded to CAF?
CAF has warned Kenya of serious consequences. Kasarani will host the final, and tens of thousands will want to watch Harambee Stars if they make it to the final.
The organising committee released a statement, responding to CAF's decision to reduce the capacity for Sunday's game.
They urged Kenyans to behave and strictly follow CAF directives, including buying tickets from authorised vendors.
"You are encouraged to arrive at the stadium on Match Day at least five (5) hours before kick-off with your ticket ready on your mobile phone for quick verification," the statement said.
They also said they will organise fan zones for fans who won't be able to catch the game inside the stadium
"We are also making arrangements to set up Official Fan Zones where supporters can gather and watch the Harambee Stars' Final Group Match against Zambia this Sunday (August 17) in a safe and controlled environment."
Before the tournament kicked off, CAF raised concerns over security in Kenya following the deadly protests.

"CAF has written to the Local Organising Committee in Kenya of the CHAN 2024, raising some serious concerns in relation to breaches in security measures at Kasarani Stadium during Kenya National Team’s matches," read a statement from CAF.
"CAF strongly condemns the continuous security breaches, including the incidents that took place on Sunday, 10 August 2025, during the Kenya vs Morocco CHAN fixture. CAF has referred the security breaches to Competent bodies for Investigation and appropriate action."
CAF is in discussions with the Local Organising Committee in Kenya and the Kenyan Government to ensure compliance with the CAF Regulations including Safety and Security protocols."
What next for Kenya ahead of Zambia clash?
Harambee Stars players were given a brief break before they returned to camp to prepare for their encounter against Chipolopolo.
Benni McCarthy's team needs just one point to advance to the quarter-finals after winning two and drawing one of their three Group A matches.
They can alternatively qualify for the quarter-finals if Angola fails to beat DR Congo at the Kasarani Stadium on Thursday.
If they beat Zambia on Sunday, they will finish top of Group A and avoid playing Tanzania in Dar es Salaam in the quarter-finals. Group A winners will play their quarter-final match in Kasarani.
Kenya is still waiting to learn how much they will be fined following Sunday’s chaos.
What did William Ruto promise Harambee Stars?
In a related story, TUKO.co.ke reported that President William Ruto promised more cash for Harambee Stars.
Ruto had earlier promised KSh 1 million for every win and KSh 500,000 for every draw.
After their win over Morocco, Ruto promised the players KSh 2.5 million if they defeat Zambia this coming Sunday.
