The game, which was held at the Bluenergy Stadium - Stadio Friuli in Udine, Italy, was a dramatic one after PSG pulled a late smash-and-grab.

The French giants qualified for the one-off final after thrashing Inter Milan to win their maiden Champions League title in May. Tottenham, on the other hand, beat Manchester United in the Europa League final.

The North Londoners sacked their manager, Ange Postecoglou, shortly after the final and brought in Thomas Frank from Brentford.

The Dane enjoyed a quick start to his competitive spell as a Spurs manager as goals from Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero gave them a surprise 2-0 lead.

PSG, who only resumed training six days ago after their prolonged participation in the Club World Cup, were lethargic at the start. Both Spurs goals came from corner routines.

Luis Enrique's side, however, grew into the game and scored twice in the last five minutes, including a stoppage-time goal from Goncalo Ramos to force penalties.

In the penalties, Vitinha missed the first pen for PSG, but new goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier spared his blushes after he saved Van de Ven's effort. Mathys Tel then missed his penalty kick before Nuno Mendes scored the winning goal.

The one UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin gave PSG captain Marquinhos is to be kept by the governing body at all times.

At the same time, the winning club must ensure that the trophy is in their control at all times and doesn't leave the club's country without prior permission from UEFA.

"Replica trophies awarded to winners of the competition (past and current) must remain within the relevant club’s control at all times and may not leave the club’s country without UEFA’s prior written consent (in this respect, clubs must comply with any request from the UEFA administration to confirm the location of the club’s replica trophies)."

Enrique: Tottenham deserved to win

Speaking after the game, Enrique admitted that his side didn't deserve to win the game. The former Barcelona manager drew comparisons of how long Tottenham have been training and admitted his side were lucky.

"For 80 minutes, we didn't deserve that. I think Tottenham deserved to win the match because they were in form, they were training for six weeks, and they played a great match. We have been training only for six days, but sometimes football is unfair. I have to say we were very lucky in the last 10 minutes that we could score two goals," he told TNT Sports via ESPN.

The Lilywhites referenced their recent triumph in the Europa League, with many convinced it was a dig at their rivals, who have gone for over five years without winning a trophy.

Tottenham were given a trophy after the game, which Heung-min Son, who has since left the club, lifted.
