The whole world was shaken in July after Jota and his brother Andre Silva perished in a road accident.
The Liverpool star was on his way back to Liverpool for the start of preseason training when the car they were driving in veered off the road and crashed.
Jota was at that time driving after doctors had advised him against flying following a lung surgery.
Chelsea star Pedro Neto was the most affected, having been Jota's teammate at the national level. The two had just won the UEFA Nations League a few days before the accident.
Neto tearfully held Jota's shirt before their quarter-final match against Palmeiras as Enzo Fernandez consoled him.
Chelsea went on to win the Club World Cup after stunning Paris Saint-Germain in the final, earning the huge prize money in the process. They won $114.6million (KSh 14.6 billion).
How much will Chelsea players contribute to Jota's family?
Of this prize money, the club gave the players who were part of the squad $15.5m (KSh 2 billion) to share among themselves.
The Blues have now gone a step further and decided to contribute part of the bonuses to the family of Jota.
The Athletic reports that the players will each give around $500,000 (KSh 64.6 million) as a financial donation to the family of Jota.

Diogo Jota's family
The former Wolverhampton Wanderers forward left behind a wife, Rute Cardoso, whom he had just married 11 days before his accident.
The couple had three kids, with the youngest barely seven months old when Jota passed on.
Liverpool's tributes to Jota
Liverpool players, led by Virgil van Dijk, promised Jota's widow that they would be around in case she ever needed anything and would support her.
"You meant so much to all of us and you always will! For your family to lose two sons, a husband and a father is just unimaginable. So cruel and unfair. My heart is breaking for all of your beautiful family, for Rute and for your kids. I promise you that in these difficult times and beyond, we will always be there for your family," he said on Instagram.
Liverpool retire Diogo Jota's number
Liverpool have since retired Jota's number 20 shirt across all levels at the club.
The club did so after consultations with the family. Cardoso has already been to Anfield to see all the tributes left by fans.
The retirement joins a long list of clubs that have retired shirts of former players.
