Harambee Stars have already qualified for the quarter-finals, even before kick-off, but a lot more will be at stake against a Zambian side that has already been eliminated.

They currently lead the group with seven points, and a win will put them on top, irrespective of what happens in the other game, pitting Morocco against DR Congo at Nyayo Stadium.

Winning the group is vital as they will play their quarter-final match at the Kasarani Stadium. Should one of Morocco or DR Congo overtake them, they will have to travel to Dar es Salaam for their quarter-final match against Tanzania.

When and where is Zambia vs Kenya?

The game will be held at the Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani on Sunday, August 17, 2025.

Kick-off is slated for 3 pm with the Morocco v DR Congo game kicking off simultaneously at Nyayo Stadium.

Zambia vs Kenya preview

Zambia

Avram Grant's side are yet to win a game at this year's competition, something they will be eager to change in front of a volatile home crowd.

"It doesn't matter if we have already been eliminated or not. Our focus as a team tomorrow is to try and win the match against Kenya and build that winning mentality," said the former Chelsea boss on Saturday.

Zambia coach appears to warn Harambee Stars ahead of CHAN clash

"Of course, we didn't want to lose, but now the CHAN helps us to see who we can select for our main team."

The Chipolopolo started with a 2-0 loss to DR Congo before Angola came from behind to beat them 2-1. Their last game was on Thursday against Morocco, which ended 3-1 in favour of the North Africans.

All their games were played at Nyayo Stadium, making their game against Kenya the first time they will play at Kasarani.

Kenya

Harambee Stars, meanwhile, have been on a roll, punching above their weight. They have beaten Morocco and DR Congo and held Angola despite being considered the underdogs.

But McCarthy is unfazed about his side, insisting that they didn't get there by sheer luck.

"For us, tomorrow's game is important. Some said we are in the group of death and we would probably finish with zero points, but here we are. So tomorrow is a must-win game for us to finish top of the table.

Where to watch Kenya vs Zambia

The game will be live on multiple CAF-licensed platforms, including KBC Channel One, Azam, Supersport Africa, BeIN and Canal Sport.

Fans who weren't able to get tickets are strongly advised not to go to the stadium amid tough sanctions from CAF.

FKF and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) have set up six fanzones across the city for fans to enjoy the game on large screens.

Harambee Stars' possible quarter-final opponents

Given that they have already qualified for the quarter-finals, Harambee Stars' options will become clear once they have played Zambia.

Kenya will face Tanzania if they finish second at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

If they beat Zambia and win the group, McCarthy's men will have a date with Madagascar at Kasarani.
