The 2024 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) has reached the quarter-final stage, with several teams, including giants Nigeria, already eliminated.

Co-hosts Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania finished top of their groups and advanced to the quarter-final set to start on Friday, August 22.

Only two teams from each group advance to the quarter-finals, and teams from Groups A, B, and C have already bid the tournament goodbye.

Which teams qualified to CHAN quarter final?

CHAN 2024 kicked off on August 2, with Tanzania opening the tournament in style with an entertaining 2-0 win over Burkina Faso at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.

Taifa Stars secured two more victories and a draw, finishing the group stage on a high note.

Madagascar, another team from Tanzania's Group B, advanced to the quarter-finals after winning two of their four matches.

In Group A, Kenya and Morocco progressed to the next round. Harambee Stars remained unbeaten in the group stage, securing three wins, including their triumph over favourites Morocco.

Uganda have also through to the last eight despite an early scare. They will be joined by North African giants Algeria.

Sudan and Senegal are expected to go through from Group D, which concludes on Tuesday evening, August 19.

Which teams have been eliminated from CHAN 2024?

Nine teams out of the 19 have so far been knocked out of CHAN 2024. In Group A, Zambia, DR Congo, and Angola are out.

Chipolopolo finished the tournament without a win, while DR Congo needed a victory against Morocco in their final match to progress, but fell short.

“I’m not worried about the future of the team, because this tournament is basically for testing and exposing players in the local leagues. We have FIFA windows coming up next and that’s where our focus will be, with all the players playing in the abroad leagues available for selection,” Zambia coach Avram Grant said.

In Group C, Uganda staged a miraculous comeback against South Africa to reach the quarter-finals, eliminating Bafana Bafana in the process. Guinea and Niger, the other teams in the group, have been knocked out.

In Group D, Nigeria will play no further part in the tournament after losing two games. One of Congo, Sudan or Senegal will also be knocked out.

Who will win CHAN 2024?

The CHAN 2024 quarter-finals start later this week, with exciting matches ahead.

Kenya will face Madagascar, Tanzania will battle Morocco, while Uganda and Algeria are still waiting to learn their opponents.

Two-time winners Morocco are seen as the favourites to win CHAN 2024 despite finishing second in Group A.

Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and Algeria have also shown they can win the most difficult matches.

Zambia coach sends message to Kenyans after CHAN exit

The former Chelsea boss congratulated Kenya for their hospitality and thanked Kenyan fans for creating a great atmosphere.
