Harambee Stars are playing in the knockout stage of a major tournament for the first time in their history.

After an eye-catching group stage campaign, Benni McCarthy's side now have a chance to fight for a place in the semi-final and possibly the final.

How did Harambee Stars perform at CHAN 2024?

Kenya were placed in the group of death with former champions Morocco and DR Congo, Angola, and Zambia.

Many expected a difficult run for Kenya, but they advanced to the knockout stage without tasting defeat.

In their first game of the tournament, Kenya registered a hard-fought 1-0 victory over DR Congo, thanks to Austine Odhiambo's strike in the first half.

In their second game against Angola, they had to defend for the majority of the contest after Marvin Nabwire was sent off in the 20th minute.

They defended well and walked away with a draw.

Against Morocco, they defended the entire second half with ten men after Chrispine Erambo's sending off. Luckily, they had scored late in the first half.

They defended valiantly and earned a massive win. They also scored a late goal to beat Zambia in their final group game.

Titus Mulama predicts Kenya vs Madagascar

Speaking exclusively to TUKO.co.ke, former Kenyan international Titus Mulama predicted a win for Kenya.

"We have a big test, it will not be easy at all. Since we are playing at home and the motivation the fans will give them, I am predicting a win for Kenya. Players understand the gravity of the game, so I give Kenya a 1-0 win," he said.

"We also have the pressure because we have never played in a major tournament and reached this stage. By participating for the first time, they've already made history. It will be challenging.

The forward also emphasised the importance of the tournament to Kenya.

"However, it is a great moment for Kenyan football. It gives us hope that it is really possible. We now see that if we do things right, it is possible. It gives the opportunity to continue dreaming of growing Kenyan football to a good spot so we can be respected again."

What is Kenya's path to CHAN 2024 final?

Kenya is facing Madagascar, a team that reached the semi-final of the 2022 edition. Therefore, it will be a huge test for McCarthy and his team.

If they beat the islanders, they will battle either Sudan or Algeria. If they reach the final, they could meet Uganda, Senegal, Morocco or Tanzania.

What did Benni McCarthy say about Tanzania?

In another story, TUKO.co.ke reported that Benni McCarthy issued a warning to Tanzania before their match against Morocco.

The South African cautioned Tanzania about the challenges posed by their quarter-final opponents.

The message did not sit well with Tanzanians, who then sent a warning to Kenya regarding Madagascar.
