Victor Wanyama Sends Heartfelt Message to Benni McCarthy After Kenya’s Painful CHAN Exit

Harambee Stars midfielder Victor Wanyama has showered Benni McCarthy with praise following Kenya's heartbreaking exit from CHAN 2024.

How McCarthy and Kenya were eliminated from CHAN

McCarthy's team was eliminated in the quarter-finals after losing a penalty shootout to Madagascar at Kasarani Stadium.

Kenya exited the tournament with three wins and two draws, after their quarter-final ended in a 1-1 draw.

They beat DR Congo, Morocco, Zambia and drew with Angola. McCarthy has now won four games as Harambee Stars coach.

Despite the painful exit, Kenyans praised the team for their performance, emphasising the impressive work McCarthy has done since his appointment.

“Nothing but proud of what we achieved. The players gave everything every single day in training and every match,” McCarthy said after Kenya's CHAN exit. “It was really good but football is like that, the lottery of penalties sometimes doesn’t go your way.”
