Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha said the government was determined to end doctors' strike in a few days after several meetings with KMPDU.

The doctor emphasised interns' demanding responsibilities, including acting as primary doctors in some hospitals and handling 14 different duties.

Head of Public Service Felix Koskei urged government agencies and state departments to halt salary increment review as the state moves to lower the wage bill.

KMPDU has said that the Ethiopian doctors hired at KUTTRH are unqualified to treat patients. The doctors were hired to assist patients in the cancer department.

Kenya Kwanza MPs have continued to criticise doctors for failing to end strike and heavy demands insisting the government is unable to meet their demands.

Former prime minister Raila Odinga warned that the health sector will soon be in a crisis. He asked the Kenya Kwanza administration to address the doctors' concerns.

COTU boss Francis Atwoli said President William Ruto is trying to be sincere with the doctors over the current stalemate. He said there is need for a compromise.

Siaya governor James Orengo has publicly sided with the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists' Union (KMPDU) in the ongoing strike.
