President William Ruto's government promised to lower the price of maize flour from an average of KSh 200 per 2kg packet of unga to about KSh 150 in May 2023.

The Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) report showed that inflation eased to 7.9% after recording over six-moth high of 9.2% as food prices soared.

President William Ruto said the government set measures to reduce the cost of maize flour from KSh 240 to about KSh 150 per 2kg packet to be availed next week.

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi confirmed that the government intends to import more food by August 2023 after waiving KSh 10 billion worth of duty.
