The collapse occurred around 1am during a live performance by renowned merengue artist Rubby Pérez and his orchestra.
The National Emergency System reported that at least 223 people were injured in the roof collapse.
What happened before Jet Set nightclub accident?
Footage from inside the venue captured the chaotic moments leading up to the disaster. In the video, the band can be seen performing when someone in the crowd notices something falling at the back of the club.
Moments later, pendant lights hanging from the ceiling begin to plummet, followed by the collapse of the entire roof.
The video captures the screams of terrified patrons and the sound of crashing debris before the footage abruptly cuts off.
Witnesses reported panic as the wall suddenly collapsed, causing the crowd to scream in terror. Emergency responders quickly arrived on the scene, working to rescue those trapped under the rubble.

The family of MLB all-star Nelson Cruz confirmed her passing. Merengue singer Rubby Pérez, who was performing at the time, was also confirmed dead.
Dominican President Luis Abinader expressed deep sorrow over the incident, stating:
“We deeply regret the tragedy that occurred at the Jet Set nightclub. We have been following the incident minute by minute, and all relief agencies are working tirelessly in the rescue efforts. Our prayers are with the affected families.”
