Investigations into the murder of a Ugandan couple are ongoing, with police making significant progress towards identifying the culprits.

David Mutaaga and his wife, Deborah Florence Mutaaga, were found dead at their home in Entebbe, on July 6.
Their deaths remain a mystery, especially as the couple had recently returned from living in Switzerland.

In a new development, the Ugandan police managed to extract an image of the suspect from CCTV footage obtained at the couple’s home.
In a statement, the Uganda Police Force said investigations were being conducted in collaboration with other security agencies, and that police were actively pursuing the suspects and gathering more evidence.

They released an image of the suspect wearing a black long-sleeved shirt, a black balaclava covering his face, red trousers with white stripes on both sides, and bluish gloves.
He was also seen wearing black sandals and holding what appeared to be a gun.
The CCTV camera captured him at the entrance of the house as he attempted to gain entry.

Moreover, police also obtained an audio recording of the man’s voice and called on members of the public who might recognise him to come forward.
“A reward of fifty million shillings (approximately KSh 1,802,625) has been offered by Uganda Police to anyone who provides information leading to the suspect’s apprehension,” the statement read.
They further urged anyone with information on the suspect’s identity to contact them through +256 769 675 918.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the 69-year-old Mutaaga and his wife were found with stab wounds.
Police stated that the attackers accessed the couple’s home with the intent to rob, although the motive had not yet been confirmed.
Two casual labourers working at the home were arrested to assist with the investigation, and statements were taken from neighbours.
Following the tragic deaths, speculation surfaced online suggesting that a family member may have orchestrated the attack.

And in case the suspect rented a room nearby. Just know, look into the footage and see any anyone within a month passed by several times (to gain some prior intel about the dead ) Or people with motive."

David Mutaaga's family releases statement
A few days ago, a statement from the family confirmed the double murders of the elderly couple.
In their communique, the family requested privacy and called for an end to the wild speculations surrounding the murders of Mutaaga and his wife, Deborah.
"While we recognise the public interest that this incident has sparked, we ask the public and media to desist from speculations and await the investigations," the statement indicated in part.
Further, the bereaved family also announced that it would not respond to any media inquiries at the moment, as it is taking some time to mourn.

Did David Mutaaga have children?
In related news, TUKO.co.ke reported that the slain couple’s children skipped their memorial service in Uganda, citing security reasons.
Isabel Najitta Mutaaga and Mark Ernest Kabenge Mutaaga remained in Zurich as their parents travelled back to Uganda.
The two siblings honoured their parents virtually during a memorial held to celebrate their lives.
