Nyembe was not only an actress but also an emblem of South African storytelling.

She was described as more than just a performer, but as the heart and soul of the nation’s cultural expression. Her work transcended entertainment, and she became a teacher, a mentor, and a guiding figure to many.

"Nandi was far more than an actress; she was the very soul of South African storytelling. A teacher, a guide, and a mother to this nation, she carried our struggles, our laughter, and our victories through every performance with truth, dignity, and heart, the statement continued. Through her life and work, she gave our people pride and our stories, a purpose.
Nyembe's legacy reaches far beyond her roles on screen. She inspired many young actors from villages and townships, showing them that greatness is not defined by one's background, but by how deeply they are willing to give of themselves. As the statement put it, Nandi gave us everything. She was the voice that said: “You too can rise.”'
