A two-year-old boy named Govinda became the centre of attention after a rare encounter with a deadly snake ended with the child emerging as the unlikely victor.

Govinda, the son of Sunil Sah, was playing outside his home in West Champaran district when he noticed a snake slithering nearby. Acting on pure instinct and innocent curiosity, he picked up a small brick and threw it at the snake, unaware of the danger it posed.

Unfortunately, the reptile was not just any snake, it was a cobra, one of India’s most venomous species.

How did the toddler bite the cobra to death?

Startled and enraged, the cobra lunged at the toddler and quickly wrapped itself around his arm, sinking its fangs into him.

But what happened next left everyone speechless. Rather than scream or flee, Govinda instinctively bit the snake with his teeth, hard enough to kill it on the spot.

His family, alerted by his cries, rushed out and were stunned to find the lifeless snake dangling from his tiny hand.

His grandmother, Mateshwari Devi, recalled the panic that gripped the household. By the time they reached him, the snake was already dead and Govinda had collapsed.

The boy was immediately rushed to a nearby health centre and later transferred to the Government Medical College Hospital (GMCH) in Bettiah for intensive care.

2-year-old boy miraculously survive cobra attack

Despite suffering a snakebite, Govinda miraculously survived the attack.

Doctors were amazed by his condition, noting that either the snake hadn’t fully injected its venom, or the child had been treated just in time.

According to the medics, the cobra appeared to have died from trauma to the hrad and mouth as a result of the child's bite.

"The child's condition is currently stable and treatment is being administered under the supervision of doctors. The medical team is treating the child, providing continuous medication and he is under observation," noted GMCH doctor Saurabh Kumar, as quoted by The Times of India.

Boy hospitalised after eating raw snake in Bomet

In a related bizarre incident previously reported in Bomet county, a 15-year-old boy was hospitalised after consuming a raw green snake.

His mother recounted that the teenager first brought the snake home and showed it to her before fleeing with it. After ingesting the snake and drinking water, his health quickly deteriorated, prompting villagers to rush him to a local dispensary, which referred him to Litein Mission Hospital.

Doctors later confirmed he had suffered anaphylactic shock from toxins in the snake’s body. He was first admitted to the hospital’s High Dependency Unit and later moved to the general ward, where he continued to receive treatment and showed signs of recovery.
