Liz's husband has penned a heartbreaking post, announcing her death, but didn't reveal the cause of her death.

The sad news of the influencer's death left her friends and fans in tears.

What killed Basanti Chatterjee?

The legendary Bengali actress, who dominated the acting industry for over five decades, died aged 88.

According to the Times of India (TOI), Chatterjee succumbed to cancer at her residence in Kolkata, India.

The website further disclosed that the beloved actress had been admitted in the ICU for months before doctors advised home care under the supervision of nurses.

In 2013, Basanti Chatterjee featured in Star Jalsha's Geeta LLB TV and is reported to have fallen seriously ill while filming for the show, forcing her to seek medical attention.

Chatterjee's recent employer shared a post announcing her death.

"Star Jalsa family mourns the untimely demise of Basanti Chattopadhyay," read the post.

The actress featured in over 100 films, including critically acclaimed ones. She was known for roles in Sundari, Bhutu, Thagini, Manjari Opera, Sujan Sakhi, Boron, and Alo, just to mention but a few.
