As many panicked, the brave man called out to the families trapped inside to keep passing the children to safety.
First, there were two babies whom he passed to another man waiting on the window of a separate building, then two older children, before the women followed suit.
According to French news outlet Le Parisien, Cissé said he did not hesitate before taking the risk to save the families.
“There were lives at stake, I didn’t calculate,” he said.
Le Parisien reported that Cissé’s actions were not only recognised on social media but also by the French President Emmanuel Macron, who called him personally.
Macron reportedly lauded his good deed as he awaits formal honour from the city of Paris.
