Diego Borella, the 47-year-old assistant director of Netflix's smash show Emily in Paris, died on set in Venice while filming the climactic final sequence of the show's fifth season.

The incident happened on Friday, August 22, while they were getting ready to film a critical scene inside the famous Hotel Danieli.
How did Diego Borella die?
Medics got there quickly and did everything they could to save Borella, but he was declared dead at about 7:30 p.m. after what was said to be a sudden heart attack.

Borella was a well-known and respected person in both the Italian and worldwide film circles.
He was born and raised in Venice, but he trained in Rome, London, and New York. He was noted for being calm, professional, and dedicated to his work.
The assistant director was recognised not only for his technical skills but also for his creative side.
He wrote fairy tales and stories for kids that showed how intelligent and imaginative he was.
Due to his unexpected death, the production of Emily in Paris season 5 had been put on hold and filming resumed on Saturday, August 23, according to People.
